Track and demonstrate your achievements in creating content for and promoting IBM Doc Buddy. IBM Open Badge Program is established to recognize and verify skills, achievement, and contribution. You are encouraged to share IBM Doc Buddy Influencer badge, IBM Doc Buddy Advocate badge, and IBM Doc Buddy Contributor badge on social media to showcase your mainframe expertise and contribution to IBM Doc Buddy.


This badge earner demonstrates commitment to engagement with mainframe users by advocating IBM Doc Buddy through client presentations, conferences, or social media posts. The individual is able to optimize the mobile information experience for IBM Z products through contributing high-quality information, attending usability tests, or offering valuable insights that are then adopted in Doc Buddy updates.

Estimated time for badge issuing: up to 5 business days

You become a Doc Buddy contributor if you meet both of the following criteria:
  • You advocate IBM Doc Buddy.
  • You are either a qualified content provider or an active Doc Buddy user.

You can advocate IBM Doc Buddy by completing one of the following activities:

  • Promote IBM Doc Buddy at an IBM Z event with greater than 50 attendees.
  • Promote IBM Doc Buddy on social media channels, and the post was shared 10 times or more.
  • Write an article about IBM Doc Buddy in an IBM internal newsletter with greater than 50 recipients. (This item is only available for IBM employees)
  • Write an article about IBM Doc Buddy on a well-known mainframe community or mainframe blog channel.

You are defined as a qualified content provider if you have both of the following accomplishments:

  • You contributed to product information published on IBM Doc Buddy for more than 10 articles in 5 consecutive months. The content is reviewed by the Doc Buddy content team and the technical leads or offering managers of the IBM Z organization.
  • The average view count per week for the product channel which you are responsible for is higher than the average view counts per week for all product channels.

You are defined as an active Doc Buddy user if you have both of the following contributions:

  • You attended 1 Doc Buddy usability test to offer your insights for the mainframe area and the app itself. To enroll in usability tests, you can either reply to usability test recruiting posts in IBM mainframe discussion groups (such as ibm-main) and in IBM Doc Buddy app or submit your application to
  • You provided 1 comment that is under consideration in Doc Buddy design. You can send your comments and feedback about IBM Doc Buddy to


The badge holder demonstrates commitment to engagement with mainframe users by creating and maintaining an influencer column on IBM Doc Buddy.

Estimated time for badge issuing: up to 5 business days

You become a Doc Buddy Influencer if you are the owner of an influencer column and share insights and opinions in your column so that mainframe users can get the most value from mainframe offerings.

Your professionalism is evaluated in the following ways:

  • The original content posted in your column is aligned with the content strategy of IBM Doc Buddy. The Doc Buddy content team is responsible for editorial governance to ensure good mobile experience.
  • The original content posted in your column demonstrates the value of the mainframe platform or a specific mainframe product to our customers. IBM Z development and offering management teams are involved in validating the value of the content.

If you want to have your own influencer column on IBM Doc Buddy, send an email to and describe your experience in the mainframe industry and in IBM Z. The Doc Buddy content team and the technical leads or offering managers of the IBM Z organization will review your application for an influencer column.

Privacy Statement

IBM leverages the services of Credly's Acclaim platform, a 3rd party data processor authorized by IBM and located in the United States, to assist in the administration of the IBM Digital Badge program. In order to issue you an IBM Digital Badge, your personal information (name, email address, and badge earned) will be shared with the Credly's Acclaim platform. You will receive an email notification from Acclaim with instructions for claiming the badge. Your personal information is used to issue your badge and for program reporting and operational purposes.
